about chef jenn

Chef Jenn DiSanto is the owner of Fresco Foods, LLC and is a classically trained chef. She and her family relocated to Dayton about three years ago from Brussels, Belgium where she taught cooking classes and catered events at the American Women’s Club of Brussels for visitors and international diplomats. She has always been passionate about using the best seasonally available ingredients but living and traveling extensively in Europe further solidified her conviction in the benefits of shopping often and hand selecting all of her ingredients to ensure only the finest, freshest, preservative-free ingredients in all of her cooking. Since moving to Dayton she has been operating The Easy Way Out, catering and personal chef services. It is from her commitment to providing excellent food and service and her ability to make every event she has catered a special one to both the hosts and the guests that has earned her a very strong following and the support to open a storefront. Prior to living in Europe, she owned and operated a successful catering business in Connecticut.

Jenn comes from a large family where food and fun were always the catalysts for all celebrations. It is these very ingredients and experiences that form the cornerstone of her passion for the culinary arts. Inspirations dating back to childhood are many. Her father, a former butcher who spent a lifetime in the meat, cheese and seafood industry supporting a family of seven daughters, inspired Jenn to be creative with the best available ingredients and taught her everything there is to know about meat and seafood. She has fond memories of cooking comfort food with her Mother, incredible meat and seafood dishes with her Father and all of the great times she still has today cooking with her sisters. As the youngest of the seven daughters she fondly remembers helping her mother cook the family meal all the while so proud and excited to present the “plat du jour” to her family.

Jenn has travelled extensively and is often inspired by the beautiful food and wines she has experienced along the way. She believes in honoring various cultures through their cuisine. Her style of cooking can be best described as a fusion of various cuisines including Spanish, Mediterranean, French, Italian, Latin American, Asian and American regional cuisine. All of her dishes blend several tastes and flavors from around the world to create a deeply flavorful and healthy meal using only the freshest seasonal ingredients.

Chef Jenn is very active in the community and believes in giving back. She regularly donates her time, talents and offerings to several local non-profit organizations. She is passionate about educating people on the benefits of eating local and the virtues of feeding the soul with the great gift of fresh, slow food. She teaches cooking classes to kids on a volunteer basis on these subjects at a few local schools and regularly teaches all aspects of food, wine and cooking techniques at the DLM School of Cooking. She received her culinary degree in Connecticut and graduated top of her class. She is certified by the National Restaurant Association in food safety and sanitation.

Jenn and her husband Jim live in Washington Township and have two children; Eva, 5 and Max, 3.
